The Highway

Peter Tee’s Highway of Today’s Best Country

Sunday 7-9 (UK time)

Peter's career in radio stated way back in the mid 70s, working on  a leading disco road show for a national entertainment agency, he worked with all the top bands of the time and  also worked  with the radio Luxembourg 208 and radio one presenters.

Working at a leading USAF base club called the Aquarius club on the USAF Alconbury base, at the time this was regarded as the top base venue in the UK, with many of the base personalities coming straight from the 70 disco scenes in the states.

Wikipedia:  the Airman's Club at RAF Alconbury was considered to be one of the best nightclubs in the United Kingdom. It became known as the "Aquarius Club". Main line entertainers often performed there. By the mid-1970s, the "AQ Club", as it was also known, was considered to be one of the finest disco dance clubs.

One day Peter was working on base at Aquarius club, he was asked to cover in the officers club, different type of music, however with a roadi who was well into country music. Peter became very popular there to; often seen working both venues on the same night, the officers club also became a big venue with long Country Theme weekends which Peter would compare

Time moved on and Peter started to travel the world, starting in Sydney in the Blue Mountains working on a radio station called the “Country smile in the middle of your dial” (well it was the 70’s) travelling to the states and getting very into the new Nashville scene, whilst working on radio over there.

At the start of the country explosion when CMT came to the shores of the UK , Peter was back in England and working for a Gold station “WGMS” out of Peterborough . He started to cover on the country show and moved very quickly into the New Country scene; later becoming the co founder of lite fm (Peterborough) worked as Program controller and started the Highway 106.8 show. When it moved on to fm, this show had better rajar figures than the chart show which was broadcast at the same time

Peter started to work at Corby and Ashby radio where he started to teach presenters, also present and producer of a very popular country show called “The Highway”

With the online and Community radio stations and other stations across the world being so accessible, a new idea was formed, he started the build of a dedicated studio to produce The Highway, that is now complete and on line and ready to roll out and travel down  the highway of today’s best Country  with Peter Tee every Sunday 7-9pm (uk time)
