Album Review: Zac Brown Band, Uncaged, Southern Ground/Atlantic Recordings
Zac Brown Band kicks off their much anticipated album, due in stores on July 10th, with the melodic track "Jump Right In." The project then follows with album titled track "Uncaged" which builds in momentum as the music continues. The mostly instrumental tune is a life declaring anthem the band constructs so wonderfully.
Diving into sentimental with the track, "Goodbye in her Eyes" portrays a bitter sweet ending to a relationship after their partner finds love with someone else. Zac sings lyrical surrendering to the inevitable of a lover's departure. His band members exude perfect harmonies in this track; they focus to make each track ear candy through-out listening to the ingeniousness of the production.
"The Wind" is Zac Brown's current single which has the humorous animated video that was released this week on CMT.com (View it Below). The pickin' hoe down music compliments Zac's tenor vocals which balance out the old school Ricky Skaggs-era-style; the tune showcases the band's strength as musicians.
Returning to their favorite style in the "Island Song" gives another good summer beach type tune for the fans. Just with a little more diversity in the style that holds a Jamaican feel, complete with steel drums & Zac's Island singing style. He transforms his voice into the song's fantasy beach vacation concept. Another noteworthy song is R&B infused track "Overnight" featuring Orleans musician, Trombone Shorty, who heads up the horn section which is completely perfect for the tune's goal. Beware ladies, you'll be surprised to hear Zac sing with such soul in this song.
Overall this album is a musical journey which takes a little of inspiration from the music of previous times combining it with diverse instrumental styles to make it a masterpiece project.
